Cobb County Family Searching for Answers After Fatal Hit-and-Run

In March of 2025, a man was walking down a sidewalk in Cobb County when a motorist approached and struck him. The collision proved fatal, and the impact on the victim’s local community was tremendous. Various media sources quickly reported that the man was a father of three, and that he was leaving behind a grieving family that may never be the same. Will this family ever find justice? What are their options after a hit-and-run in Cobb County

Family Urges Driver to Come Forward and Accept Responsibility

The man’s sister provided a statement to the local media, expressing her shock that a driver could leave a dying pedestrian on the side of the road without a second thought:

“I can only imagine his last moments. I can only imagine my brother’s last moments or his last thoughts. That’s my brother. That’s my mother’s son. He’s somebody. He’s a dad. My niece and nephews can’t get their dad back, and they’re in the prime of their life. My niece will be graduating soon. They’re so much like him.”

Cobb County authorities say that the man was walking down a sidewalk when a vehicle struck him from behind. There is no indication that the man was jaywalking, and the driver appears to have veered onto the sidewalk for unknown reasons.

Police are currently searching for the driver responsible for the collision in Cobb County, and they hope to learn why this incident occurred. Meanwhile, the family of this victim is struggling with grief and financial burdens. Their first task is to find the funds for a proper funeral, but this is challenging in the modern era. The cost of an average funeral in the United States is now well over $8,000. The family is reportedly asking for help from their local community to cover these costs.

But more than anything else, the family wants the driver to come forward and accept the consequences of their actions. This sense of closure is more important than money for many people, and the fact that so many questions remain unanswered about this incident undoubtedly adds to the overall stress.

The victim’s uncle is clear about his opinion of the incident: He believes that if police ever find the driver, they should charge the defendant with murder. One can certainly relate to his point of view. If the driver had stopped and cooperated with law enforcement, the situation might be different, and the family might be able to find some forgiveness in their hearts.

The truth is that when someone leaves a pedestrian with severe injuries and decides to drive away, they often condemn them to death. As the driver who strikes the victim, they are in the best position to call 911 and provide assistance as quickly as possible. This is especially true in a rural community, where a victim might lie on the side of the road for hours before being noticed.
